KETJENFLEX® for Laminates and Molding Compounds
Resins made from melamine, phenol and formaldehyde are used to make laminates and molding compounds.
KETJENFLEX® 9S is used as reactive and internal flexibilizer for melamine formaldehyde resins for laminate applications such as:
• Kitchen surfaces
• Trims and cladding
• Floor parts
• Office desks
• Molded parts (brakes linings, clutch faces, kitchenware)

Key Application Areas
Our KETJENFLEX® additives are used to enhance adhesion, flexibility, and performance in various printing applications, delivering measurable improvements in print quality and durability.

High pressure laminates
Melamine formaldehyde resins for high pressure laminates may be internally modified with KETJENFLEX® 9S to become post formable, an important property for kitchen surfaces, doors and wall cladding. Moreover KETJENFLEX® 9S provides better water resistance and resin flow.
Compatible systems:
• Melamine formaldehyde resins
• Phenol formaldehyde resins
Low pressure laminates
Melamine formaldehyde resins for low pressure laminates may be modified with KETJENFLEX® 9S to obtain improved flow properties, better water resistance and to obtain postformability.
Compatible systems:
• Melamine formaldehyde resins
Continuous pressure laminates
Melamine formaldehyde resins for continuous pressure laminates may be modified with KETJENFLEX® 9S to impart post formability and improved water resistance.
Compatible systems:
• Melamine formaldehyde resins
• Phenol formaldehyde resins
Melamine Molded Compounds
Using KETJENFLEX® 9S will improve the flexibility, Appearance, and mechanical properties (such as machinability) of Melamine molded compounds.
Phenolic Resins
Phenolic resins have superior performances for heavy duty applications. Meanwhile, to reduce brittleness, KETJENFLEX® 9S will bring flexibility, and flex resistance, improving durability, and adhesive strength.
Typical applications: face clutches, brake pads, abrasive disks
