PTS Acid can be used in a wide variety of chemical reactions, including pharma applications. It can serve as a building block, or to make the salt of an API or target molecule. The p-TSA salt of an API is often more stable or better bio-available than the pure API. Alternatively, making the p-TSA salt is a good method of purifying the API in the last step of production.
Surfactants & Detergents
PTS Acid is widely used in the chemical manufacturing steps that create many surfactants and detergent ingredients, primarily as a catalyst for esterification and related reaction.
Chemical Synthesis
PTS Acid is a standard catalyst in many condensation reactions to produce fine chemicals as such the following reactions are catalyzed by PTS Acid:
Fatty acid esterification, Aldol and enol reactions, Nitrosations of alkenes, Synthesis of azo dyes, and Synthesis of various other dyes and pigments
